Overview

Join Virginia Housing and help make a difference as a Homeownership Intern (Hybrid).

Our Homeownership Division is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Quality Assurance (QA) Intern to join our dynamic team. As a QA Intern, you will have the opportunity to gain hands-on experience in the mortgage origination process while ensuring the quality and compliance of our services. This internship is an excellent opportunity for someone interested in pursuing a career in the mortgage industry with a focus on quality assurance.

As an Intern, you will gain hands-on experience testing mortgage origination processes and collaborating with the development team to ensure requirements are met in compliance with industry standards. You will assist in implementing test plans, test cases, and test scripts, while clearly documenting and communicating results. In this role, you will help identify opportunities for process improvement, provide feedback to enhance efficiency, and work closely with underwriting, loan processing, and technology teams to support a culture of quality and continuous improvement. Additionally, you will be encouraged to proactively pursue professional growth and skill development in mortgage industry practices, mortgage origination, and quality assurance.

This is a paid internship that will run from July 2026 to June 2027. We gladly accept undergraduate students, graduate students, trade school students, individuals exiting the military, military spouses, and career-transitioning professionals.

To be successful in this role you must have:

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • A field of study, academic background, or demonstrated interest in Business, Finance, Computer Science, or a related study.
  • Interest and passion for working in public service.
  • Some experience working in a professional setting.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and analytical skills.
  • Proficiency in MS Office Suite applications.
  • Ability to adapt to a dynamic and fast-paced work environment.
  • Basic understanding of mortgage origination processes is a plus.
  • Basic SQL or Power BI knowledge a plus.
  • Basic understanding of Project management with Lean/Six Sigma knowledge a plus.

 

This is a hybrid (in-person & remote) position reporting to our Richmond VA office.

Interns can work up to 20 hours per week (September-May) and up to 40 hours per week during the Summer months (June -August).
