Virginia Housing’s Communications Department is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Intern to join our dynamic team. This important role will have the opportunity to gain hands-on experience in a multifaceted Communications department that includes marketing, public relations, event planning, creative development and more. This position will assist with market research, social media monitoring, data analysis and other projects. This internship is an excellent opportunity for someone interested in pursuing a career in the communications field.

This is a paid internship that will run from July 2026 to June 2027. We gladly accept undergraduate students, graduate students, trade school students, individuals exiting the military, military spouses, and career-transitioning professionals.

 

To be successful in this role you must have:

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • A field of study, academic background, or demonstrated interest in Communications, Public Relations, Marketing, or related dicipline.
  • Interest and passion for working in public service.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Some experience working in a professional setting.
  • Proficiency in MS Office Suite applications.
  • Ability to adapt to a dynamic and fast-paced work environment.

This is a hybrid (in-person & remote) position reporting to our Richmond VA office.

Interns can work up to 20 hours per week (September-May) and up to 40 hours per week during the Summer months (June -August).
