Overview

Join Virginia Housing and help make a difference as an Executive Intern (On-site).

This important role will support the Executive team by handling key administrative tasks such as typing, filing, taking meeting minutes, scheduling, research and working on special projects. The intern will deal with a diverse group of important contacts at all levels of the organization.  A high degree of confidentiality and discretion are key to the success of this role.

This is a paid internship that will run from July 2026 to June 2027. We gladly accept undergraduate students, graduate students, trade school students, individuals exiting the military, military spouses, and career-transitioning professionals.

To be successful in this role, you must have:

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • A field of study, academic background, or demonstrated interest in Business or related study.
  • Interest and passion for working in public service.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Some experience working in a professional setting.
  • Proficiency in MS Office Suite applications, including PowerPoint.
  • Experience with scheduling, calendar management, and meeting coordination.
  • The ability to order office supplies and maintain an adequate supply of frequently used supplies and keep inventory count of stock.
  • Experience in assisting with the set up and breakdown of meeting materials and collateral.
  • The ability to draft written responses or email correspondence.
  • Strong research skills with the ability to compile information for review.
  • Strong organizational skills to track action items from meetings and follow up on completion.
  • The abiliity to work independently and within a team on special non-recurring and ongoing projects.

This position is based out of our primary headquarters office location in Richmond, VA, with some travel to attend meetings at our Glen Allen, VA office.

Interns can work up to 20 hours per week (September-May) and up to 40 hours per week during the Summer months (June -August).
