Overview

Join Virginia Housing and help make a difference as an Intern in our Quality Assurance and Governance Department.

 

This important role will work closely with our Quality Assurance and our IT Governance teams. Work assignments include software and other testing, internal quality checks to ensure adherence to established policies, creating and updating technical documentation, supporting our licensing and resourcing efforts, and working with all areas of IT and our business partners. This person will learn about quality testing efforts as part of the IT system development lifecycle and strategic IT policies and procedures by supporting IT Governance efforts.

This is a paid internship that will run from July 2026 to June 2027 We gladly accept undergraduate students, graduate students, trade school students, individuals exiting the military, military spouses, and career-transitioning professionals.

 

To be successful in this role you must possess:

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • A field of study, academic background, or demonstrated interest in Computer Science, or related study.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
  • Experience with creating and revising documents with knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, Visio, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
  • Interest and passion for working in public service
  • Effective planning, organizing, and time-management skills.
  • Ability to adapt to a dynamic and fast-paced work environment.
  • Problem-solving capabilities. 
  • Creating and updating reports and documents.
  • Performing thorough research.
  • Demonstrating accuracy and thoroughness.
  • Some experience working in a professional setting.

The first 30 days are on-site, then hybrid (in-person & remote) reporting to our Richmond, VA office.

 

Interns can work up to 20 hours per week (September-May) and up to 40 hours per week during the Summer months (June -August).
