Overview

Join Virginia Housing and help make a difference as a Desktop Systems Engineer.

This important role will oversee the monitoring, maintenance, and strategic evaluation of our desktop, laptop, mobile, and peripheral device infrastructure. This critical role ensures the stability, security, and reliability of our endpoint and application platforms, while providing subject matter expertise to support long-term IT planning. Responsibilities include managing the desktop lifecycle strategy, overseeing software and OS currency, ensuring endpoint patch compliance, and supporting major hardware/software deployments. The ideal candidate will stay current with industry standards and vendor offerings, collaborate on software licensing and deployment, and help shape the future of Virginia Housing’s technology environment.

 To be successful in this role you must possess:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related area required, or equivalent work experience acceptable
  • Experience with desktop, server, and mobile device technologies.
  • Knowledge and several years of experience with SCCM and Intune, including design, proof of concepts, pilot implementations, packaging, and image deployment technologies.
  • Knowledge and experience with Directory Services, Database applications (SQL Server, Exchange, Active Directory).
  • Requires proven project management and methodology skills especially the ability to serve as a technical lead or coordinator and work on multiple projects simultaneously, especially in a cross-functional environment.
  • Knowledge of information security principles.

 

 The ideal candidate would also have experience in:

  • MCSA and MCSE preferred
  • Minimum of five years of experience in Desktop Architecture/Engineering or application packaging
  • Experience with multi-platform and operating systems environments
  • Experience with endpoint security and related concepts

Hiring Range: 95,000 – 128,000

This is a hybrid position.
