Overview

Join Virginia Housing and help make a difference as a Senior Tax Credit Allocation Officer.

This important role assists in the administration of the federal Low-Income Housing Tax Credit (LIHTC) Program, including policy implementation, QAP updates, and developer training. Responsibilities include reviewing 4% and 9% LIHTC applications, conducting financial/underwriting analysis, and ensuring compliance through pre- and post-construction monitoring (including 8609 issuance). This position collaborates closely with developers and Senior Allocation Officers, requiring strong stakeholder engagement and customer service mindset.

To be successful in this role you must possess:       

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, accounting, land use planning, real estate or related degree and/or equivalent, relevant work experience
  • Several years working in tax credit, real estate, housing or affordable housing related field(s). Broad experience in both commonplace and unusual work situations and problems associated with the allocation of tax credits.  
  • Knowledge of the Tax Credit program regulations, schedules and application information
  • Skilled in presentations and stakeholder communication
  • Experienced in delivering difficult news and enforcing requirements
  • Strong conflict resolution and decision-making abilities
  • Excellent written and verbal communication
  • Highly organized and detail oriented
  • Travel required within the State. Must maintain a valid driver’s license and comply with Virginia Housing’s motor vehicle and HR policies as a condition of employment

 

The ideal candidate would also have:

  • Master’s or other advanced degree
  • Familiarity with Pro Link
  • Demonstrated experience and understanding of IRC Section 42

Hiring Range: $109,000 - $147,500
