Sr. Systems Engineer

This important role will be responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining enterprise-level system solutions to ensure a secure, stable, and efficient end-user computing environment. This role will heavily focus on the utilization, integration, and optimization of Virginia Housing’s Microsoft environment and aligning those tools into a single, cohesive platform. This role involves managing system and desktop infrastructure, automating deployments, troubleshooting complex technical issues, and optimizing endpoint security. This individual will be a technical expert with strong problem-solving skills, a passion for automation, and the ability to collaborate with IT teams to deliver scalable and secure solutions that meet the evolving needs of the organization.

To be successful in this role you must possess:

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or equivalent experience. Relevant certifications (e.g., Microsoft, Apple, ITIL, or security-focused certifications).

• Experience in developing, implementing, and maintaining enterprise desktop management solutions such as Microsoft Endpoint Configuration Manager (SCCM), Microsoft Intune, or JAMF.
• Strong proficiency with the Microsoft 365 platform, including the evaluation, adoption, and integration of productivity and collaboration tools.
• Expertise in creating and deploying system images, implementing deployment strategies, and automating desktop provisioning for both Windows and macOS environments.
• Hands-on experience managing enterprise policies, including Active Directory Group Policies (GPOs), Microsoft Intune configuration profiles, device compliance policies, and Entra ID Conditional Access policies.
• Familiarity with Virtual Desktop Infrastructure (VDI) technologies, particularly Azure Virtual Desktop (AVD), including deployment and management best practices. 

The ideal candidate would also have experience in:

• Expertise in Microsoft Endpoint Configuration Manager (SCCM), Microsoft Intune, or JAMF for macOS.
• Expertise in Microsoft M365 productivity platforms, including Exchange Online, OneDrive, Teams, and Copilot.
• Scripting and automation experience with PowerShell, Bash, or Python.
• Proficiency with cloud environments (Azure Entra ID, M365, Intune, and Windows Autopilot).
• Experience with enterprise security tools such as endpoint detection and response (EDR) systems.
• Strong understanding of software packaging, deployment automation, and patch management processes.
• Advanced knowledge of Conditional Access, group policies, and compliance baselines.

This is a hybrid position.

Hiring Range: $108,956 - $141,635

A background check will be performed as a condition of employment.
