Overview

Join Virginia Housing and help make a difference as an Applications Developer. 

This important role will contribute to the development, maintenance, and enhancement of business applications and systems, providing specialized technical or business knowledge to projects. The role will be responsible for aligning technology solutions with business strategies.  The candidate must be experienced in the design, development, and implementation of on-prem and cloud-based software solutions.

To be successful in this role you must possess:

  • A few years, preferably 3-5 years’ of experience designing, developing, deploying, and supporting web and desktop-based business applications.
  • Proficiency in the following technologies: .NET, Visual Studio, C#, HTML 5, JavaScript, CSS, SQL Server, XML, Web Services/APIs, Source Control, Power Platform, and PowerShell.
  • A few years, preferably 3-5 years’ of experience developing cloud base solutions hosted in Azure utilizing cloud offerings.
  • A few years, preferably 3-5 years, of experience developing and administrating Azure DevOps CI/CD pipelines.
  • Demonstrated competency in developing efficient and effective solutions to diverse and complex business problems.
  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related discipline, or equivalent work experience.

 

The ideal candidate would also have experience in:

  • Architecting and develop a technical solution, including detailed written/visual documentation with strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work effectively with end users and team members.
  • Must be self-motivated with the ability to set and meet deadlines on multiple projects without frequent supervision.
  • Technical knowledge, with hands-on experience managing systems development in new computing architectures and environments; knowledge of relevant technology, tools, and middleware is critical, including development technologies and scripting languages.
  • Exposure in the strategic use of technology in managing and growing a business.
  • Technical knowledge and ability to express complex technical concepts in terms that are understandable to the business.
  • Under the supervision of a senior developer or the Software Engineer Supervisor, lead development efforts; organize, plan, and execute large-scale projects from vision through implementation, involving internal personnel, contractors, and vendors; ability to analyze project needs and determine resources needed to meet objectives.
  • Strong teamwork and interpersonal skills and ability to communicate with all management levels.
  • Strong written communication skills, including technical writing.

Hiring Range: $80,768 - $104,996
