Overview

Join Virginia Housing and help make a difference as a Strategic Housing Officer.

This important role will assist with Virginia Housing’s project development, community lending, and relationship building initiatives to serve customers seeking to create and maintain affordable housing and revitalize communities. The incumbent will promote a collaborative spirit with Virginia Housing customers and stakeholders and respond to the unique and critical housing needs across the Commonwealth. The officer also solicits, establishes and maintains relationships with key groups and organizations that ultimately enable Virginia Housing to provide housing opportunities to low- and moderate-income households and support local community housing and revitalization strategies.

To be successful in this role you must possess:

  • 6+ years, preferred in affordable housing, community development, finance and affordable housing issues.
  • Degree in public administration, urban planning, community development, finance, business administration or similar area or equivalent professional/technical certification or demonstrated work experience preferred
  • Extensive experience in affordable housing and housing finance including the current policy environment.
  • A broad knowledge of low-and-moderate income housing programs is required and experience in project management, policy analysis, and intergovernmental activities
  • Ability to review market study and feasibility study and understand local and regional housing conditions. 
  • Enjoys meeting people, visiting diverse communities across Virginia, and demonstrate skills in innovative problem-solving innovative problem-solving, facilitation, negotiations, public speaking, written and oral communications, process development, and leadership.

Hiring Range: $80,768 - $104,996

A background and motor vehicle check will be performed as a condition of employment.

Travel (50 – 75%) is required with some overnight stays. This position requires incumbents to drive for Virginia Housing business purposes. Therefore, incumbents must possess and maintain a valid driver’s license.

A Conflict of Interest Act Disclosure form and Secondary Employment Disclosure form will need to be completed as a condition of employment.
