Overview

Join Virginia Housing and help make a difference as an Associate Paralegal.

This important role will be responsible for working with multiple Virginia Housing staff attorneys to document and close Virginia Housing’s rental housing (multi-family) mortgage loans.  Our ideal candidate will have the ability to learn quickly, to work effectively with more than one lawyer on a variety of complex tasks and will have the skills and education to understand and carry out assigned duties, make sound decisions, and communicate clearly.

Responsibilities will include:

  • Preparing multi-family mortgage loan documents using the HotDocs software program.
  • Opening and maintaining, in an orderly fashion, both hard-copy and digital files and binders for multi-family loans.
  • Conducting preliminary reviews of loan closing documents and other required submissions for loan closing (title insurance policy, survey, legal opinion, etc.).
  • Assist Virginia Housing’s staff attorneys with servicing issues such as real estate owned (REO), foreclosures, short sales, workouts, loan increases/restructures, transfers of ownership interest, and loan assumptions.  
  • Assist with various tasks and projects as needed.

 

Qualified candidates must possess:

  • Associate’s degree or equivalent, relevant work experience
  • At least 2 years of experience as a paralegal or legal administration experience in real estate or related field working with banking institutions or lending organizations.
  • Transactional experience with closings; either real estate or business.
  • Highly proficient skills in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, Outlook) and have demonstrated the ability to quickly master new computer programs.
  • Able to manage multiple projects working effectively under pressure.

The ideal candidate would also have (preferred) a Paralegal Certificate, experience with multi-family loan closings, and experience with loan document generation software.

Hiring Range: $53,109 - $69,041
