Overview

Join Virginia Housing and help make a difference as a Senior Staff Accountant

This important role will support the multi-family mortgage accounting division, to ensure proper daily and monthly balancing of internal accounting records to the multi-family mortgage servicing system; which includes prepare deposits and initiate wire requests, record void checks and process reversals.  Prepare journal entries for mortgage loans, all types of multi-family fees, real estate owned, investments and bond activity. Research, resolve and clear all daily and monthly reconciling items (ranging from basic to complex) including preparing bank reconciliations.  Support other reporting and other temporary duties related to multi-family accounting as assigned.

To be successful in this role you must possess:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business Administration or equivalent experience.
  • 4-5 years’ of experience in accounting or in a related field.
  • Conflict resolution, recommending and/or abiding by internal controls, and proficiency in working with reporting.
  • Strong knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles and standards.
  • Proficiency in written, oral and interpersonal communication.
  • Attention to detail, time management, and organizational skills.

 

The ideal candidate would also have experience in:

  • Month end closing in tight deadline
  • Fixed asset monthly closing
  • Bond and Investment accounting

Hiring Range: $80,768- $104,996

This is a hybrid position (3 days in office, 2 days remotely).
